Apart from past and present students, the inauguration function was also attended by the Chancellor, USTM, the Dean, SBUS, Academic Registrar, Director Students’ Affairs, HoDs from various departments of USTM and faculty members of MBA Department.

After the formal welcome ceremony of lighting of lamp, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Rashmi Baruah, the Head of the Department of Business Administration. Following this, USTM Chancellor M Hoque along with other dignitaries launched the Placement Brochure 2018 of the Department.

The Chancellor addressed the audience and emphasized on the importance of being together. Further, Dr Amit Choudhury, the Dean, SBUS, spoke about the formation of Alumni Association which has been named as BAUSTMAA. The alumni present were happy with the proposal and readily agreed on the same.

Some of the alumni shared their feelings about the alma mater, their present life and how they miss their campus life. The inaugural session ended with vote of thanks. A cultural function was also organized by the students of the Department. Few of the alumni also performed at this function. Apart from music and dance, there was a fashion show by an ex-students. All past students were presented tokens of appreciation from the Department.

Expressing her feelings, the HoD of the MBA department said, that it is strange to hold on to the pieces of the past while waiting for our future. That is nostalgia. “We all grow up and want to go to future but there is always an urge to return to the good old days. As a student, one dream about being a professional sooner and again when he becomes a professional, misses being a student. Knowing and understanding this feeling, we initiated to organize the event”. The event ended over a gala dinner and informal interactions.
